From the readme

Introduction

AppleShare Client Setup is a utility for customizing the AppleShare Client. It supports AppleShare Clients back to the System 7.0 AppleShare Client. This utility is loosely based on Jim Luther's AppleShare Setup Control Panel. It is built with PowerPlantâ„¢ and uses the GrayScale Appearance classes. It is intended for both the site administrator and the power user. To configure the currently installed client, just open AppleShare Client Setup. To configure other clients, either select them using the Open command from the File menu or drag them onto the AppleShare Client Setup icon.

Features
  • Can operate on the installed client as well as an RDEV file.
  • Supports Balloon Help (try the Help key on extended keyboards)
  • Allows changing:
    • Timeouts on Alerts
    • Timeouts for connections and lookups
    • Login Greeting messages
    • Cache behavior
    • Default port for TCP/IP
    • Tickle intervals for TCP connections

You can modify the timeouts for TCP lookups to improve connection ability over slow/high latency links such as PPP.

In conjunction with server tickle timeout modifications you can set the tickle interval to a large value to limit ISDN connection thrashing.

Known Problems

The Client has problems when you disable "startup mounting" and you have a volume set to mount at startup.

The 3.7.x Client does not seem to honor the Login Greeting disable preference.

Changing text in the text entry fields does not hilight the Update or Revert buttons.

Feedback

Bug reports and questions should be sent to the AppleShare IP list. For information on how to join the list, go to <http://appleshareip.apple.com/>. This utility is currently unsupported by Apple, so please don't call tech support or DTS.
